IGP Disu Promises Peaceful Elections in Ekiti State

On Thursday, May 21, 2026, Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu attended an electoral stakeholders meeting in Ado Ekiti, where he reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force's commitment to ensuring a peaceful and credible governorship election in Ekiti State. Disu stated that the police have developed a comprehensive deployment plan, concluding operational strategies across the state's 16 local government areas, involving 2,400 personnel and assets to guarantee the safety of voters and electoral officials.

He urged political actors to abide by peace accords and conduct their activities peacefully. The meeting included representatives from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the National Peace Committee led by former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar, political parties, traditional rulers, civil society groups, security agencies, religious leaders, and diplomats.

Disu commended the INEC and the National Peace Committee for their efforts in promoting peace and strengthening public confidence in the electoral process.
