Ekiti State Revenue Reaches N2.75bn, Targets N3bn

The Ekiti State Government announced that its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) hit N2.75 billion in June 2026, marking a 33.2% increase from N2.06 billion in June 2025. Mr.

Olaniran Olatona, Chairman of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service (EKIRS), made this announcement in Ado Ekiti, highlighting the state's commitment to a fair and sustainable tax administration system. Olatona noted that revenue collections have remained stable at around N2.74 billion since April 2026, despite the suspension of enforcement measures since July 2025.

The increase in revenue is attributed to the automation and digitalization of tax collection processes, which have expanded payment channels and improved compliance. Olatona expressed confidence that EKIRS would exceed its internal monthly revenue target of over N3 billion by the end of the year, focusing on widening the tax base rather than raising tax rates.

He also mentioned ongoing collaborations with various government agencies to streamline tax collection processes.
