Oyebanji Commits to Peaceful Ekiti Gubernatorial Election

On Thursday, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State pledged his commitment to ensuring a peaceful gubernatorial election set for June 20, 2026. This assurance was made during a meeting with members of the National Peace Committee (NPC), which included its chairman, former Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar.

Oyebanji commended the NPC's efforts in fostering peace among political contestants and reiterated the importance of a peaceful electoral process for the state's development. He highlighted a commitment made four years ago during his previous gubernatorial contest to uphold peaceful conduct.

Oyebanji stressed that Ekiti cannot achieve its desired progress without a peaceful atmosphere, urging all stakeholders to embrace peace and responsible behavior during the electoral process. The meeting also included notable figures such as Deputy Governor Monisad Afuy and Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, among others, who collectively emphasized the need to strengthen democracy in Nigeria.
