INEC Accredits 98 Observer Groups for Ekiti Election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has accredited 98 observer groups for the upcoming Ekiti State governorship election, which is scheduled for June 20, 2026. This announcement was made in a statement issued on Wednesday, signed by Mr. Victoria Eta, the Director of Voter Education and Publicity.

Among the accredited organizations are a broad spectrum of civil society groups, professional bodies, and institutions with expertise in electoral observation and governance, including notable entities such as Yiaga Africa, CLEEN Foundation, and the Nigerian Women Trust Fund. INEC emphasized the critical role of these observer groups in enhancing public confidence in the electoral process and urged them to adhere strictly to guidelines for non-partisan and professional conduct during their activities.

The list of accredited domestic observer groups includes various initiatives focused on youth empowerment, peacebuilding, and civic education, reflecting a commitment to a transparent and accountable electoral process.
