El-Rufai to Stay in ICPC Custody Until June 2026

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor, is set to remain in the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) until June. This decision follows an adjournment of his bail application, which was heard in court last Tuesday.

The presiding judge, Dariu Khobo, has scheduled a ruling on the bail application for April 21, 2026. El-Rufai was previously granted bail by Justice Rilwanu Aikawa of the Federal High Court in Kaduna, with the bail sum set at N200 million.

The conditions of his bail stipulate that he must refrain from making public comments regarding the case and must attend court sessions. During the court session on Tuesday, El-Rufai's counsel, Ukpon Akpan, expressed concerns about the prolonged adjournment, suggesting it may be politically motivated.
