El-Rufai's Lawyers Await ICPC Response on Bail Request

Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, is currently facing legal challenges as his lawyers have yet to receive a response from the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) concerning a bail application. Muyiwa Adekeye, an aide to El-Rufai, raised alarms about the situation, noting that there has been no remand order issued despite the 48-hour window for holding a person without charge having expired.

El-Rufai voluntarily reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and was detained until the night of Wednesday, February 18, before being transferred to the ICPC. His arraignment is scheduled for February 25, where charges will be filed against him in the Federal Capital Territory High Court.

The case will address fundamental rights against the federal government, ICPC, EFCC, and DSS, with Adekeye indicating that they seek an order to admit El-Rufai to bail.
