Asiya El-Rufai Appeals to Tinubu for Husband's Bail

Hajiya Asiya El-Rufai, wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, addressed journalists in Abuja, appealing to President Bola Tinubu for leniency in her husband's prosecution. She stated that El-Rufai does not deserve persecution after his efforts for Tinubu's electoral victory in the 2023 presidential elections.

Asiya highlighted her husband's health concerns, including high blood pressure and high blood sugar, and noted that he has been denied access to medical treatment. She clarified that the family is not seeking special treatment or political interference in the judicial process but is requesting basic human rights, including access to medical care and a fair trial.

Asiya expressed concern over the authenticity of a medical report issued by a national hospital in Abuja and described the family's trauma due to El-Rufai's detention, which has limited his ability to prepare a defense. She urged the President to allow El-Rufai to be granted bail and to let the court decide on his innocence.
