Nigerian Government Launches Road Projects in Borno State

On a recent Saturday, Vice President Kashim Shettima, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, flagged off road construction projects in Borno State, specifically targeting the Bama-Banki-Dikwa-Gamboru-Ngala corridor. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen cross-border economic activities and improve security in the northeast region.

The Vice President emphasized that the poor road network has significantly impacted households and businesses, raising food costs and discouraging investment. The projects will facilitate better access for farmers, traders, and healthcare services, while also enabling security agencies to respond more effectively to emergencies.

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State expressed gratitude for the federal government's commitment to infrastructure development, highlighting the importance of these roads in restoring confidence and economic activity in the region. The projects are expected to be completed in phases, with significant funding allocated, including a previous contract worth N55 billion for the first phase.
