David Mark Criticizes Akpabio Over INEC's Role in Electronic Transmission of Election Results

Former Senate President David Mark rebuked Godswill Akpabio, the interim chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), for speaking on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding electronic transmission of election results. Mark stressed that the responsibility of deciding on electronic transmission lies with INEC and should not be dictated by individuals.

Akpabio had rejected mandatory electronic transmission, citing network issues in nine Nigerian states. Mark emphasized the need for a law to allow electronic transmission but insisted that INEC should have the final say on its implementation.

He highlighted that the decision on electronic transmission is crucial for the transparency of elections in Nigeria and should not be taken lightly.
