CDS Olufemi Oluyede Urges Soldiers to Combat Banditry

On a visit to the Theatre Command Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State, Chief of Defence Staff Olufemi Oluyede directed troops to sustain aggressive operations against banditry and criminal elements in Northwest Nigeria. He emphasized the urgency of eliminating criminal networks and urged soldiers to remain resolute in their fight for the safety of citizens.

Oluyede commended the troops for their resilience and sacrifices, highlighting the importance of discipline and professionalism in the face of pressure from criminal groups. He assured military personnel of continued support, including improved welfare and training provisions.

During the visit, Oluyede paid a courtesy call to Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, who praised the commitment of the armed forces to restoring peace and called for deeper collaboration, particularly in intelligence sharing. The visit underscored ongoing efforts to stabilize the region, which has been a major security flashpoint due to banditry and kidnappings that have displaced thousands.
