Leeds United Signs Nico Elvedi for £8.5m from Monchengladbach

Leeds United has finalized an £8.5m agreement to acquire Swiss defender Nico Elvedi from Borussia Monchengladbach. The deal includes an initial payment of £6.8m, with an additional £1.7m in performance-related add-ons.

Elvedi, 29, is traveling to England for a medical examination on Monday, marking the end of his 11-year tenure with the German club. He has earned 73 caps for Switzerland and participated in the recent World Cup.

Leeds United's manager, Daniel Farke, commented on the transfer after a pre-season victory over Augsburg, stating that while they anticipate the deal to be finalized soon, it is only complete once medical checks and paperwork are finalized. The transfer will also facilitate fringe defender Sebastiaan Bornauw's loan move to Hamburg, which includes an option to buy.

Leeds United is preparing to begin their Premier League campaign the following Saturday.
