Newcastle United Secures Johan Manzambi for £50 Million

Newcastle United has successfully had a £50 million bid accepted by Freiburg for 20-year-old Swiss midfielder Johan Manzambi. The acceptance comes after Manzambi's standout performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he scored three goals and assisted two others, earning significant attention.

He played a crucial role in Switzerland's campaign, including scoring twice against Bosnia and Herzegovina and netting another goal in a group victory. Prior to the World Cup, Manzambi made 58 appearances for Freiburg, contributing seven goals and nine assists, helping the club finish seventh in the league and reach the final of the UEFA Europa League.

Newcastle's acquisition of Manzambi is seen as a vital addition to Eddie Howe's squad, especially following the departure of Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur. The club aims to fend off interest in captain Bruno Guimarães while bolstering their midfield options.
