ICPC Urges INEC Officials to Uphold Integrity for 2027 Elections

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) called on officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to embrace integrity and transparency in preparation for the upcoming 2027 general elections. This call was made by ICPC Chairman Musa Adamu Aliyu during the opening of a two-day anti-corruption sensitization workshop for INEC staff at the commission's headquarters in Abuja.

Aliyu highlighted the critical role of electoral officials in safeguarding Nigeria's democratic process and urged them to resist corrupt practices that could undermine electoral credibility. He noted that compromised electoral processes could lead to costly supplementary polls and increased litigation.

The workshop is part of ICPC's mandate to promote integrity and accountability in public institutions. INEC Chairman Joash Ojo Amupitan approved the sensitization program, acknowledging the challenges in electoral management.

The workshop featured presentations on legal implications and conflict of interest in Nigeria's electoral system.
