Emem Usoro Appointed Deputy Governor of CBN

Emem Usoro has been appointed as the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) following her nomination by President Bola Tinubu and subsequent confirmation by the Senate. With a banking career spanning 23 years, Usoro has held various roles across critical areas including operations, credit administration, and corporate banking.

She previously served as the Executive Director for the North Unit at the United Bank for Africa (UBA), where she managed operations and championed financial inclusion, particularly for women and rural communities. Usoro holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from the University of Uyo and a Master’s in Business Administration from Obafemi Awolowo University.

She has also pursued executive education at prestigious institutions such as Harvard Business School and Columbia Business School. Her leadership philosophy emphasizes the empowerment of women in finance, making her a role model in a traditionally male-dominated field.

Usoro's appointment comes at a critical time for Nigeria's financial system.
