Clerics Urge Governor Abiodun to End Awujale Succession Delay

On Sunday, during the commissioning of 52 borehole projects and a community empowerment program in Ijebu, clerics including Rt. Rev. Dr. Peter Rotimi Oludipe, Chief Imam Sheikh Muftaudeen Ayanbadejo, and Chief Bolanle Bakare called on Governor Abiodun to lift the ban on the succession process for the Awujale of Ijebuland.

Bishop Oludipe stated that the delay is caused by the state government, which has halted the selection process. He urged the governor to allow the kingmakers, whom he described as people of integrity, to fulfill their traditional duties.

The bishop emphasized the community's need for a monarch, noting the growing concerns among residents about the vacant traditional stool. Sheikh Ayanbadejo expressed hope for a resolution, acknowledging that while the emergence of the next Awujale is ultimately in Allah's hands, proactive steps should be taken to address the situation.

The clerics collectively urged the governor to consider the community's wishes regarding the installation of the new monarch.
