Fusengbuwa Ruling House Sues Ogun Governor Over Awujale

The Fusengbuwa Ruling House, represented by Chairman Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, has initiated legal action against Ogun State Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun and the kingmakers in a State High Court in Ijebu-Ode. The lawsuit was filed due to frustrations over a seven-month delay in the selection of the next Awujale of Ijebuland.

Owoyemi stated that the family had complied with legal timelines, completing necessary processes within 10 days of the 14-day period allowed by law. He expressed concerns over a letter that halted the selection process, which referenced petitions the family had not seen.

The suit, numbered HCJ/149/2026, seeks to compel the defendants, including the State Attorney General and the Ogun State Executive Council, to complete the selection process. Counsel Otunba Olusegun Otayemi emphasized the urgency of the matter, noting that Ijebu Ode cannot remain without a king for an extended period.
