Fusengbuwa Ruling House Addresses Awujale Succession Crisis

The Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has declared its unity and determination to produce the next Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland. This statement followed an enlarged meeting of the ruling house held at Ile Nla (Agunsebi) on Sunday.

The meeting, co-chaired by Otunba Abdulateef Owoyemi, the Chairman and Head of the Fusengbuwa ruling house, along with Deputy Chairman Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba and Vice Chairman Prof. Fassy Yusuf, aimed to address the stalled succession process for the vacant Awujale stool after the death of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July 2025. The Ogun State Government had suspended the selection process in January 2026 due to petitions from security agencies.

The ruling house has approached the High Court in Ijebu-Ode to compel the completion of the selection process. Owoyemi emphasized the unity of the ruling house and the support from members during the meeting.
