Seven Parties Sign Peace Accord for Enugu Elections

Seven political parties have signed a peace agreement in preparation for the Enugu state local government elections set for September 26, 2026. The parties involved are the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Because Of Our Tomorrow (BOOT), National Rescue Movement (NRM), Action Democratic Party (ADP), Action Peoples Party (APP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and All Progressives Congress (APC).

Prof. Christian Ngwu, the Executive Chairman of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC), highlighted the importance of this signing to promote decorum among political parties, candidates, and supporters before, during, and after the elections. Represented by Dr. Solomon Udeh, the chairman stated that the agreement commits the parties to peaceful, non-violent participation and respect for the electoral process.

Ngwu assured that ENSIEC is making necessary arrangements for a credible election, emphasizing that all parties would have a level playing field. Dr. Martin Chukwunweike, the Enugu State Chairman of APC, affirmed the party's commitment to peaceful conduct during the polls.
