Enugu Launches DNA Forensics Centre for Justice

The Enugu State Government, led by Governor Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in collaboration with Godfrey Okoye University (GOUNI), inaugurated a DNA Forensics Centre to improve criminal investigations in the state.

During the launch, Governor Mbah issued a warning to individuals with criminal intentions, emphasizing the importance of the facility in addressing unresolved crimes. He urged residents to avoid tampering with crime scenes, as biological traces could be easily compromised.

Vice Chancellor Professor Christian Aniek noted that once fully approved by regulatory authorities, the centre would provide conclusive paternity and maternity tests with a 98% accuracy rate. Attorney General Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN commended the initiative as a bold step for Nigeria, linking it to broader fiscal reforms under President Bola Tinubu's administration.

The event was attended by Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu and other top police officials, highlighting the strategic importance of the centre for national resources and justice.
