Enugu State Mandates N150 Million Permit for Campaigns

Enugu State has established a mandatory N150 million advertising permit for political parties and candidates in preparation for the 2026/2027 elections, as stated by Francis Aninwike, the General Manager of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria. This permit is required for deploying visual campaign materials, including banners, billboards, and promotional items, across urban and rural communities in the state.

The initiative aims to prevent visual pollution and maintain professional standards in outdoor advertising while protecting public infrastructure. Political parties and candidates must comply with these regulations to avoid the removal of campaign materials and potential legal sanctions.

The guidelines will apply uniformly to all political entities, including incumbents. The enforcement of these regulations is crucial, especially during the election season, to ensure a fair and democratic process.

The elections are set to commence on February 20, 2027, with voter registration data indicating increased participation ahead of the polls.
