Enugu Man Arrested for N10 Million Land Scam

Ifeanyi Mba was arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly committing a N10 million land fraud. The EFCC announced the arrest, stating that Mba was apprehended following a petition from a victim who claimed to have paid N10 million for a plot of land at 677 Owo Premier Layout, Ogui Nike, Enugu State.

The victim later discovered that the land was being developed by an unknown person. Mba's attempts to recover the money were unsuccessful.

Preliminary investigations by the EFCC revealed that there is no plot 677 Owo Premier within the government-acquired area of Owo Premier Layout. The suspect is expected to be charged in court once the investigation concludes.

The EFCC's Enugu zonal directorate has been active, having facilitated the recovery of N1.28 billion from Sujimoto Luxury Construction Ltd. in January, related to allegations of misappropriated funds meant for constructing a smart green school across Enugu State.
