Enugu Police Arrest Two Drug Suspects in Nkanu East

On May 21, 2026, the Enugu State Police Command conducted an operation in Nkanu East Local Government Area, resulting in the arrest of two suspects involved in illicit drug peddling. The operation was confirmed by police spokesperson Daniel Ndukw, who stated that it was part of a sustained proactive crackdown on criminal activities across the state.

The police, utilizing intelligence and a surveillance team from the Agbani area command, raided a notorious hideout in Umuiba Nara. During the operation, one suspect, Ani Jame, aged 35, was apprehended.

Upon interrogation, Jame allegedly confessed to engaging in the illicit buying and selling of a variant of cannabis sativa known as "loud." The police recovered several sachets containing the suspected substance during the operation.
