Enugu Police Arrest Two Suspected Interstate Kidnappers

On May 14, 2026, at 1:20 PM, the Enugu State Police Command announced the arrest of two suspected members of an interstate kidnapping and armed robbery syndicate. The suspects, identified as Moham Hassan, 28, and Aminu Usman, 26, are natives of Ogbadibo Local Government Area in Benue State.

They were apprehended in Amutenyi, Obollo Afor, Udenu Local Government Area, during an operation involving collaboration with members of the Neighbourhood Watch Group. The police recovered a Beretta pistol loaded with two rounds of 9mm live ammunition, three stolen motorcycles, a mobile phone, a charm, and an ATM card with a sum of N4,700.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the suspects were involved in motorcycle snatching operations along the border communities of Enugu and Benue states. The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mamman Giwa, reaffirmed the command's commitment to eliminating criminal elements in the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to security agencies.
