Enugu Police Arrest Two for Illicit Drug Peddling

On May 21, 2026, the Enugu State Police Command conducted an operation in Nkanu East Local Government Area, leading to the arrest of two suspects, including Ani Jame, aged 35. The operation was part of a sustained proactive crackdown on criminal activities across the state.

Police spokesperson Daniel Ndukw confirmed the arrests, stating that the operation was based on intelligence gathered by the police. During the raid at a notorious hideout in Umuiba Nara, the police recovered a quantity of cannabis sativa, commonly known as Indian hemp, specifically the variant referred to as "loud." Upon interrogation, the suspect Ani Jame allegedly confessed to engaging in the illicit buying and selling of the drug.
