Enugu to Host South East Zonal Headquarters of Tax Ombud

Enugu State is set to host the South East zonal headquarters of the Tax Ombud, as disclosed by Dr. John Nwabueze, the Chief Executive Officer of the Tax Ombud, during a visit to Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah at the Government House in Enugu.

This initiative is expected to enhance taxpayer support services and contribute to improving the tax-to-GDP ratio in the state. Dr.

Nwabueze emphasized Enugu's strategic position as a commercial hub, which will facilitate the office's operations and address tax-related disputes, including challenges of multiple taxation. The establishment of the Tax Ombud is part of the ongoing tax reform agenda under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at building a fair and efficient citizen-centered tax system.

The office will provide transparent and impartial mechanisms for resolving taxpayer disputes and will include a toll-free call center and a digital case management portal for taxpayers to lodge complaints. Governor Mbah expressed the state's readiness to host the headquarters and highlighted the administration's commitment to growing the economy.
