Tax Ombud Chief Urges Staff to Uphold Integrity

Dr. John Nwabuez, the Chief Executive of the Tax Ombud, addressed staff during an induction ceremony, urging them to uphold integrity and deliver quality service in line with the institution's core guiding principles.

He emphasized the need for commitment to effective tax dispute resolution, promoting voluntary tax compliance, and reducing friction between taxpayers and tax authorities. Nwabuez highlighted the significance of building a modern and sustainable institution that adheres to strict compliance with laws and operational guidelines.

He noted that every staff member plays a crucial role in the success of the office's mandate, which aligns with ongoing tax reform efforts under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration. The reforms aim to create a fair and efficient taxpayer-centered system.

Nwabuez also announced the launch of the office's official website, a toll-free call center, and a digital case management system to facilitate taxpayer complaints and monitor case progress in real-time. The induction program included knowledge-sharing sessions facilitated by senior staff.
