Tax Ombud Chief Urges Staff to Uphold Integrity

Dr. John Nwabueze, the Chief Executive of the Office of the Tax Ombud, addressed staff during an induction ceremony, urging them to uphold integrity and deliver quality service in line with the institution's core guiding principles.

He emphasized the need for effective tax dispute resolution to promote voluntary tax compliance and reduce friction between taxpayers and tax authorities. This initiative is part of a broader effort to diminish public skepticism towards tax administration.

Dr. Nwabueze highlighted the importance of building a modern and sustainable institution that requires discipline and strict adherence to work standards and legal regulations.

He noted that every staff member is responsible for contributing meaningfully to the success of the office's mandate, which aligns with the ongoing tax reform agenda led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The reforms aim to create a fair and efficient citizen-centered tax system.

Additionally, Dr. Nwabueze announced the launch of an official website and a toll-free call center to facilitate taxpayer engagement and complaint resolution.
