Nwabueze Launches Tax Ombud Office for Fair Tax System

Nwabueze addressed newsmen in Lagos regarding the establishment of the Tax Ombud office, which is designed to ensure a fair and transparent tax system in Nigeria. He clarified that the office does not determine tax liabilities or replace court tax appeal tribunals but serves to protect taxpayer rights and resolve grievances.

The Tax Ombud office, established as an independent and impartial body, aims to promote fair tax administration and encourage voluntary compliance. This initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, which seeks to reposition taxation as a tool for inclusive development and shared national responsibility.

Nwabueze emphasized the importance of public trust in government and the role of the Tax Ombud office in identifying recurring issues in tax revenue administration and recommending reforms to improve efficiency and transparency. He commended President Tinubu's leadership in transforming tax reform and renewing the social contract with taxpayers, encouraging them to be active partners in nation-building.
