FAAN Commits to Green Airports for World Environment Day

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability during the 2026 World Environment Day event, themed "Global Call for Climate Action." The event included a road walk and sensitization exercise involving FAAN staff and stakeholders to promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices. Mr.

Olubunmi Kuku, Managing Director and Chief Executive of FAAN, and Mr. Henri Agbebir, Director of Public Affairs, emphasized that environmental protection remains a key priority for FAAN.

The authority is implementing several initiatives aimed at reducing its environmental impact, including the successful implementation of the ISO 14001:2025 Integrated Management System, for which FAAN received certification in December 2025. Captain Abdullahi Mahmood, Director of Airport Operations, commended the contributions of FAAN staff and stakeholders to the organization's environmental sustainability efforts.

Professor Emeka Ndimel delivered a keynote presentation, stressing the need for innovative and sustainable approaches to airport development in the face of climate change.
