Labour Party Defends Otti, Criticizes Kalu's Threats

The Labour Party has launched a strong attack against Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, accusing him of making threats of violence aimed at intimidating voters ahead of the upcoming senatorial contest in Abia North. In a press release signed by Chidieber Okoro, the party described Kalu's comments as reckless and indicative of panic, asserting that the era of political intimidation in Abia State has ended.

The party claimed that Kalu's statements reflect a deep fear of a free and fair electoral process, warning the people of Abia to resist any attempts to reintroduce a culture of fear and electoral malpractice. Additionally, the Labour Party defended Governor Alex Otti against Kalu's criticisms regarding infrastructure projects, particularly the Umuahia-Uzuakoli-Abiriba-Ohafia road, labeling Kalu's claims as false and misleading.

The party also challenged Kalu to open the books on his own tenure, referencing past legal controversies. The political climate in Abia State is intensifying as the election approaches.
