Tax Expert Advocates Ethical Compliance Over Gains

Olayinka Oyebola, managing partner at Olayinka Oyebola & Co., stated that ethical compliance is more important than short-term gains in the tax profession. His remarks were made during the AEGI Chartered Institute of Taxation Nigeria's 28th annual tax conference held in Abuja from May 11 to May 15, 2026.

Oyebola congratulated members of the institute for their successful conclusion of the conference, which focused on the theme of tax reform and the global relevance of Nigeria's tax system. He criticized the need for a blueprint to bridge existing regulatory gaps and align Nigeria's tax architecture with global best practices.

Oyebola also commended the leadership of the institute for successfully hosting the event and warned practitioners to protect their professional reputation against predatory entities in the financial ecosystem. He urged tax experts to remain vigilant and adhere to international best practices to avoid exploitation by those with selfish motives.
