Ethiopia Collaborates with Nigeria to Enhance Capital Market

Ethiopia is partnering with Nigeria’s Investment Securities Tribunal to bolster its capital market. During a visit to Abuja, Ethiopian Ambassador Legess Geremen commended the tribunal's work and emphasized the need for a reliable mechanism to address investor complaints.

He highlighted the importance of investor assurance and the tribunal's role in resolving disputes within a 90-day period. Hon.

Aminu Jinaidu, the tribunal's chairman, assured the ambassador of the tribunal's readiness to support Ethiopia in developing a stable capital market. The discussions included the potential signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to facilitate cooperation, particularly in light of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Hon. Umahanni Amin, a female member of the tribunal, pledged support for Ethiopia, especially in the area of Islamic finance.

The Ethiopian envoy's visit also included observing a live court session to understand the tribunal's operations better.
