IST Chairman Offers Support to Strengthen Ethiopia's Market

On a recent visit to Abuja, Ethiopian Ambassador Excel Legess Geremen Hail met with Hon. Aminu Jinaidu, Chairman of the Investment Securities Tribunal, to discuss support for strengthening Ethiopia's capital market.

Jinaidu assured the ambassador that the tribunal would utilize its expertise to help Ethiopia establish a robust capital market system, including the Ethiopian Exchange and capital market administration. The ambassador highlighted the importance of timely responses to investor complaints and expressed hope for a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the tribunal and Ethiopia.

The discussions also emphasized the need for collaboration within the African continent, especially with the African Continental Free Trade Area in effect. Hon.

Umahanni Amin, another tribunal member, pledged support in deploying expertise in Islamic finance to assist Ethiopia. The tribunal aims to resolve investment disputes within a 90-day period to ensure transparency and investor confidence in Nigeria's capital market.
