Etsu Nupe Advocates for National Unity in Abuja Lecture

At the 8th Blueprint Annual Public Lecture, Impact Series and Awards held on August 18, 2026, in Abuja, HRH Dr Yahaya Abubakar, the Etsu Nupe and Chairman of the Niger State Council of Traditional Rulers, urged Nigerians to commit to national unity and development. Represented by the Andoma of Doma, Ahmadu Aliyu Oga Onawo, he stated that Nigeria's challenges should not overshadow its vast human and intellectual potential.

Abubakar emphasized that “there is no alternative to indivisible Nigeria” and called for the restoration of traditional values such as discipline, respect for authority, and communal responsibility as a means to combat insecurity. He highlighted the role of traditional institutions in intelligence gathering and conflict resolution, advocating for community policing and grassroots participation.

Abubakar urged Nigerians to uphold virtues of hard work, honesty, and communal harmony, and called for prayers for lasting peace and unity in the country.
