EU-IDEA Calls for Unified Framework to Reform Nigeria's Juvenile Justice System

EU-IDEA, in partnership with legal scholars and justice sector leaders, is pushing for a unified framework to reform Nigeria's juvenile justice system. The initiative aims to address institutional fragmentation and inconsistent practices that undermine children's rights and long-term crime prevention efforts.

Research by the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (RoLAC) Program reveals significant gaps in the justice chain, from arrest to rehabilitation, due to deficiencies in facilities, court systems, and social worker training. Recommendations include increased budgetary commitments, inter-agency collaboration, and policy reforms to align with international child rights standards.
