FG Trains 4,000 Tractor Operators to Enhance Food Security

The Federal Government has initiated a training program for 4,000 tractor operators under its national agricultural mechanisation project to bolster food security and develop a skilled workforce for large-scale modern farming. This initiative was announced in a statement by AGCOMS International Trading Limited on Monday and is coordinated by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in collaboration with AGCOMS International Trading Limited and the Industrial Training Fund.

The first batch of 250 trainees commenced a two-week residential training at CSS Farms in Nasarawa State. The program aims to train operators to manage modern John Deere tractors and agricultural implements.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, emphasized the government's commitment to food security through mechanisation, stating that well-trained operators are essential to transforming national investments in tractors into productive harvests. The initiative also focuses on matching investments in agricultural equipment with human capital development, providing young Nigerians with technical skills and nationally recognized certification.
