Olatunji Disu Confirmed as New Inspector General of Police

The Nigeria Police Council has officially confirmed Olatunji Disu as the new Inspector General of Police, following the removal of Kayode Egbetokun. The confirmation took place during a meeting at the State House in Abuja, which lasted approximately 40 minutes.

The council's decision was unanimous, as stated by Bayo Onanuga, a special adviser to President Bola Tinubu. This leadership change marks a significant moment for the Nigeria Police Force.

Meanwhile, in a separate political context, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, accused former Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi of hypocrisy regarding the Electoral Act amendments. Wike's remarks were made during a media chat on Monday, responding to opposition criticisms of the recently signed law by President Bola Tinubu.

The Federal Government also attributed delays in salary payments for February to technical glitches affecting the payroll process.
