INEC Launches New Voter Registration Phase for Nigerians

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has launched a new phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, which began on August 18, 2025, and is set to run until August 17, 2026. This initiative allows eligible Nigerians, including those who have recently turned 18, to register online through INEC's registration portal.

The exercise aims to expand voter registration and ensure that all eligible citizens can participate in Nigeria's democratic processes. INEC has advised Nigerians not to wait until the last minute to register, as this often leads to overcrowding at registration centers and unnecessary delays.

The registration process involves two stages: an online pre-registration application where individuals provide personal details, followed by biometric capture at designated centers. This phase also accommodates individuals wishing to change their voting location or update their personal information.
