Ex-Bauchi SSG Ibrahim Kashim Joins SDP for 2027 Race

Ibrahim Kashim, the immediate past Secretary to the Bauchi State Government, has defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) and declared his ambition to contest in the 2027 governorship elections in Bauchi State. He resigned from his position in the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed in December 2024, following the governor's departure from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in July 2025.

In a media chat, Kashim expressed his concerns regarding the underdevelopment in key sectors such as agriculture, education, and poverty alleviation. He highlighted his experience in public service as equipping him with the knowledge necessary to drive reforms and improve the living standards of the people.

Kashim emphasized the importance of structural reforms anchored in law rather than arbitrary decisions. He described the SDP as a party with a strong historical background, despite its recent limited electoral success, and called on members of other political parties, including PDP and APC, to join the SDP to collectively promote development and improve the welfare of the people.

He expressed optimism about gaining voter support for his candidacy in the upcoming elections.
