Dr. Tom Ohikere Advocates for Kogi West Governorship in 2028

Dr. Tom Ohikere, the former Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Convener of the Coalition for Better Kogi State, has called for the rotation of the governorship seat to Kogi West in 2028. He argues that Kogi East has held the governorship for 17 years and Kogi Central for 10 years, leaving Kogi West without any governorship tenure since the state's creation.

Ohikere emphasizes that his support for this rotation is based on fairness rather than ethnic interests. He criticized the upcoming Kogi Unity and Power Rotation Summit scheduled for September 30 and October 1, 2026, claiming it is organized by current officials who cannot impartially moderate discussions on power rotation.

Instead, he announced that the Coalition for Better Kogi State would host a “Kogi Equity, Unity and Rotation National Summit” in Abuja in the third week of October 2026, aiming to develop a “Kogi Charter of Equity” to present to political parties and stakeholders.
