Great Maciv Warns of Defections in Bayelsa APC

Great Maciv, a former deputy governorship candidate, has expressed concerns regarding impending defections within the Bayelsa chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). In a statement released on Saturday, Maciv highlighted the internal disparities within the party, particularly following the involvement of Governor Douye Diri, which has led to a significant imbalance favoring a minor bloc within the party.

He noted that the current structure of the APC in Bayelsa is approximately 95 percent to 5 percent in favor of this smaller bloc, which has fueled dissatisfaction among members. Maciv warned that if urgent steps are not taken to address these issues, the party could face high levels of defections, jeopardizing its position in the upcoming gubernatorial primaries and the 2027 elections.

He urged party leaders to unite and avoid creating situations that could be exploited by political opponents. Additionally, Maciv declared his support for Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid in 2027, describing it as non-negotiable.
