Former Bayelsa Deputy Governor Warns of APC Crisis

The former deputy governor of Bayelsa has issued a warning regarding an impending implosion within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state. In a statement released on Saturday, he highlighted unresolved internal disputes within the party's structure, which he believes could lead to significant dissatisfaction and anger among members.

The situation has been exacerbated by the recent involvement of Governor Bayelsa, who joined the APC, creating a divide between two political blocs within the party. The former deputy governor indicated that the party's current composition, with a population ratio of approximately 95 percent to 5 percent favoring one bloc, could lead to high levels of defections if grievances are not addressed.

He emphasized the necessity for the APC to unite and maintain competitiveness ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial primaries, warning that failure to do so could result in losing key stakeholders in both the state and national assemblies. He also described support for President Tinubu's re-election bid as non-negotiable.
