Ex-diplomat, Ogun chiefs rally behind Adeola's 2027 governorship bid

Senator Solomon Adeola, the All Progressives Congress candidate for Ogun State's 2027 gubernatorial contest, has garnered backing from a former Nigerian diplomat alongside multiple leadership cohorts within the state. After consultations with the Egba League and Islamic clerics in Abeokuta, Sarafadeen Tunji Ishola—who held a position at the Nigerian High Commission—publicly committed his support to Adeola.

Ishola emphasized the senator's governance experience, demonstrated capacity, and articulated vision for propelling state development. Backing for Adeola's candidacy has also come from the Ogun State Council of Baales and an association of retired civil servants.

Separate consultative forums in Abeokuta saw both organizations issue endorsement statements grounded in evaluations of Adeola's track record and his commitment to grassroots development initiatives. Chief Tunji Falola, chairman of the Council of Baales, pointed to the senator's service history in Ogun West as demonstration of his fitness for the governorship role.

The retirees' association indicated intentions to activate grassroots mobilization efforts supporting his candidacy. These endorsements emphasize Adeola's history of public service and his stated dedication to meeting the state's development priorities.

Both groups conveyed assurance regarding his capacity to catalyze progress across Ogun State, though their public announcements did not elaborate on specific policy initiatives beyond broad development commitments. The organizational endorsements position him ahead of the 2027 electoral cycle.

Criticism has emerged from some quarters, however. The National Association of Ogun State Students took issue with an alleged refund demand regarding campaign expenditures, reportedly made by former Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello against Adeola in connection with the APC primary.

The student organization characterized this alleged request as unprincipled and urged political stakeholders to elevate state welfare above factional grievances within party structures.
