Jim Nwobodo Denies Wife's Involvement in Property Demolition

Jim Nwobodo, the former governor of Anambra State, has denied allegations concerning his wife, Pat Nwobodo, related to the demolition of properties owned by Pastor Basil Ogbuanu in Enugu. Ogbuanu had previously claimed that Nwobodo orchestrated the demolition due to a dispute over unauthorized construction.

In a statement released to Punch Metro on Tuesday, Nwobodo dismissed these claims, attributing the situation to Ogbuanu's breach of estate regulations. Tensions escalated on January 16, 2026, when Pat Nwobodo visited the estate for a routine inspection and was allegedly prevented from leaving by a team that included police officers.

Nwobodo stated that Ogbuanu continued construction despite being informed of a property title review and expressed disappointment over the false accusations against his wife. He also mentioned that he offered to refund Ogbuanu but the pastor declined.

The value of the demolished property was reported to be in the millions of naira.
