Tuggar Declares Candidacy for Bauchi Governorship Race

Yusuf Tuggar, the immediate past Minister of Foreign Affairs, has declared his intention to run for the governorship of Bauchi State in the 2027 elections. He resigned from his ministerial position in March 2026, aligning with President Bola Tinubu's political appointments.

During a visit to the Progressive Congress office in Bauchi, Tuggar emphasized the need for party unity and pledged to support the party's flagbearer. His campaign focuses on improving the welfare of the people of Bauchi, addressing challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and insecurity, and enhancing access to quality education and healthcare.

Tuggar outlined his plans to prioritize economic growth, agricultural support, and the development of small and medium enterprises. He also promised to improve market infrastructure, enhance rural development, and ensure that no farmer fears going to their farm.

His administration would focus on transparency, civil service reform, and special attention to women and minority communities.
