Ex-FUOYE SUG President James Adio Released from Custody

James Adio, the immediate past President of the Students’ Union Government at the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, has regained his freedom following his remand by a Magistrate Court in Ekiti State. The announcement of his release was made by Akinteye Babatunde, the President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), on his X handle.

He expressed delight at Adio's high spirits upon release and commended the NANS Joint Campus Committee Chairman in Ekiti State for his leadership during Adio's detention. NANS had previously mobilized its members for peaceful protests, describing Adio's remand as a miscarriage of justice, asserting that he was the complainant in the case and faced no criminal charges.

The association accused the Directorate of Public Prosecutions and the presiding magistrate of mismanaging the situation. As of the report's filing, the specific circumstances surrounding Adio's release had not been disclosed by the court or the Ekiti State Ministry of Justice.
