NANS to Protest Over Ex-FUOYE SUG President's Remand

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has initiated mobilization for peaceful protests in Ekiti State in response to the remand of James Adio, the immediate past Students’ Union Government President of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti. NANS President Akinteye Babatunde described the remand as a miscarriage of justice, asserting that Adio was imprisoned over a matter he personally brought before a Magistrate Court in Ekiti State.

Akinteye stated that Adio was the complainant in the case and faced no criminal charges. He condemned the situation as “judicial rascality” and a violation of Adio’s fundamental rights.

NANS has directed its Joint Campus Committee Chairman for the Ekiti Axis and the National Head of Administration to organize peaceful demonstrations at various judicial locations until justice is served. Additionally, Owolewa Taiwo, NANS Head of Administration, alleged that the case involved cyberbullying and unlawful publication of private media, which was mismanaged during court proceedings.
