FUOYE Denies Arrest of VC After Osun Election Claims

The management of Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) has refuted claims that its Vice Chancellor, Prof Joshua Ogunwole, was arrested and detained by police in Abuja. Dr Sunday Saanu, FUOYE's Director of Communications and Public Affairs, stated that these reports are "entirely false, baseless, and deliberately fabricated." Prof Ogunwole served as the Chief Returning Officer for the Osun State governorship election, where he declared Mr Ademola Adeleke, the incumbent governor, as the winner.

The university emphasized that Prof Ogunwole has not been arrested or invited by any security agency concerning his duties. Following the election, he traveled to Abuja for official university business.

FUOYE condemned the spread of false information and reassured the public that Prof Ogunwole remains free and actively engaged in his responsibilities to enhance the university's academic excellence and institutional growth.
