Longdi Dasbak Advocates for Female Squash Participation

Longdi Dasbak, a former Nigerian international squash player, called for increased female participation in squash on Monday during the second edition of the Squash Premier League at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja. The week-long tournament, themed “Breeding the Next Generation of Champions,” commenced on August 1 and will conclude on August 8.

Dasbak described the league as a significant initiative for grassroots development and the growth of squash in Nigeria. She noted that participation has increased since the league's introduction in 2025, with more children now involved, indicating a rise in awareness of the sport.

Dasbak, who participated as an instructor at a coaching and officiating clinic during the tournament, established the Dasby’s Sports Development Association in Plateau to create opportunities for girls, especially from less privileged backgrounds, to engage in sports. She also runs Dasby’s Squash Academy, which trains boys and girls aged six and above, focusing on encouraging female participation in squash.
