190 Players Compete for N8m at Prime Atlantic Squash

The Prime Atlantic Squash Tournament began at Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, featuring a total of 190 players competing for a prize pool of N8 million. This year's championship marks a significant increase from the previous record of 150 participants in 2025.

Tomi Falas, the chairman of the tournament, stated that the annual championship continues to serve as a vital platform for discovering and nurturing talent, reflecting the growing popularity of squash in Nigeria. He expressed optimism for the future of Nigerian squash, citing improvements among junior athletes and the emergence of female players at competitive levels.

Tournament director Wasiu Sanni, a former national number one player, commended the organization of the championship but raised concerns regarding the pace of development in the women's category, calling for increased efforts to encourage female participation. Notable performances included David Agbaj defeating Moham Azim 3-0 and Daniel Aw achieving a 3-0 victory.
